Coping with a Skin Condition: My Favorite Hair and Beauty Products

OK, so I listed off some of my favorite skincare products a few days ago, and now I wanted to share some of my top makeup and hair products – I’d love to know of any that you’ve found to suit your skin’s unique needs like these have suited mine!

1. Natio Pure Mineral Concealer

Concealers are a must-have for me when my psoriasis is flaring on my face, and foundation just won’t do it. I haven’t found a better concealer than the Natio Pure Mineral Concealer; it’s really easy to apply with the little application brush, and it gives really lasting coverage. Obviously, love it’s mineral makeup, and it doesn’t need a lot of blending. Just great.

2. Covergirl TRUblend Minerals Blush

Again, when my skin’s flaring on my face, the last thing I need is more red. So, a lot of blushers are just too much; too bright, too much color, too pink/red.

TRUblend Minerals Blush gives the perfect touch of color, with a little bit of shimmer, and as it’s a mineral blush, it’s nice and natural, and non-irritating (for me at least). It’s really natural looking, and just brightens your cheeks up beautifully.

3. Burt’s Bees Replenishing Tinted Lip Balm

Sometimes lipstick isn’t the best option – if my face has decided to get all irritated, or my lips get cracked, hey, I’ve got to work with whatever I wake up with on any given day!

Burt’s Bees Replenishing Tinted Lip Balm with pomegranate oil is great for a little color when dry lips are an issue, because it’s super moisturizing, goes on so smooth, and wears really nicely.

4. Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector

This is a recent find – I caved in after hearing beauty bloggers the world over singing its praises. BB Cream is meant to make your skin look brighter, clearer, more even, all sorts of good stuff, and Garnier’s BB Cream is easy to find in New Zealand.

It has SPF 15 UV protection, which is great, and it really does help to smooth out blemishes. I have a lot of pigmentation on my face from my psoriasis, and it seems to give me a glow that kind of fuzzes over my imperfections.

5. Hawaiian Silky Miracle 14-in-1

I randomly stumbled across Hawaiian Silky a few months back – and I’ve been in love with it ever since! So what’s with the 14-in-1? Well, it basically does everything. It makes your hair shiny, smooth, silky, and, added bonus, it helps soothe your scalp to stop itching. Excellent!

It gives a really beautiful result with a little bit brushed through dry hair, I just love it!

6. Batiste Dry Shampoo

When you’re using lotions and creams for scalp psoriasis, your hair can get oily – even when you try and time your treatments, with washing your hair and important occasions, you can still get caught out!

Batiste Dry Shampoo is awesome on slightly oily hair, to get you through the day, until you can wash your hair.

So, what are some of your faves?
